The compositions are all good, and some of them (“Coffin Maker” jumps to mind) are true lost jewels, at least for a Traffic/Grateful Dead lover like me. They’re no virtuoses or revolutionaries, but they’re pretty DIRECT and overall HONEST. Everything sounds bad, I think sound engineering doesn’t exist here, neither as a concept. The drums are very “on your face”, and it’s not brilliant enough to justify it.
